The real estate industry has been hit harder than just about any other industry during this recession. Those of us that rely on home sales to put food on the table find it difficult to stay focused on our goals and keep a positive attitude when everywhere we turn we see signs of gloom in our industry. I have tried to enjoy this journey through peaks and valleys as much as possible.
Here are ten things that have helped me:
- Exercise at least 4 times a week for 3o minutes each time.
- Stay away from anyone that is negative. Surround yourself with positive people.
- Have a “get to” not a “have to” attitude. I “get to” work in the greatest industry in the world, I don’t “have to”.
- Have a to-do list and “just do it”. You will be amazed at how good it feels to accomplish something as little as a to-do list
- Read something positive everyday. There are some great daily newsletters from people like Jim Rohn, Chris Widener, Jon Gordon and many others that I like to read “snippets” of every day.
- Reward yourself with some time off and get re-focused.
- Continue to learn. Take a sales seminar or get a certification you have always wanted.
- Try something new. A new exercise routine, a movie you normally wouldn’t go see or a book you normally wouldn’t read.
- Forget about the buyer or seller that got away and move on to the next one.
- Kick your own ass and have some fun.
